The subplot of last Monday's episode of "Major Crimes" season 5 sets tone for next week's chapter that would see Buzz Watson continuing his mission to find out the truth about his father's death. At the same time, the Major Crimes Unit (MCU) will investigate a crime that leads them to explore family law.

To recap last Monday's episode titled "Off the Wagon," the team had to investigate the death of Chris Walker, an actor who started out young in the business and had to endure the trials and travails that plague kids exposed to fame and stardom at a young age. He was delinquent in his growing up years, meriting regular stints in rehabs.

Now he's ready to make a comeback through a new show, but before he could complete filming for it, he was found dead apparently due to drug overdose. The prime suspect was his nutritionist who was later on discovered a drug dependent himself. It was somewhat a case of having many suspects but very few motives. The team's investigation eventually led them to the true perpetrator – Chris' agent who had an axe to grind against the comebacking actor.

The episode likewise saw Buzz (Phillip P. Keene) making steady progress with his own investigation of his father's death.

This fifth season of "Major Crimes" has seen Buzz trying to fit the pieces of the puzzle that would reveal the truth behind his dad's murder. He's relied on Rusty Beck's (Graham Patrick Martin) help whenever possible while doing most of the work himself. Now it looks like before the end of the summer season, Buzz will have a few more answers to his credit.

According to Carter Matt, Monday's episode titled "Family Law" will find Buzz figuring out the identity of a suspect that has something to do with his father's murder. Apparently, he would connect partials to a complete fingerprint, and while there's no guarantee the mystery would be resolved within the hour, it's nice to know that Buzz's sub-plot will see progress.

As for the MCU's case, the team will investigate the murder of a jogger whose body was found on the steps of the Greek Theatre. The investigation would lead them to a world of divorce attorneys, which may or may not mean the crime was related to an on-going ugly divorce.

"Major Crimes" season 5 episode 9 will air Monday, Aug. 22 at 10 p.m. on TNT.
