Mafia III is one of the most-anticipated games this year, and a new gameplay trailer revealing interesting features has been released.

2K Games and Hangar 13 recently released a new trailer for Mafia III, featuring the various mob rackets which players can dismantle. Dubbed as the "hot bed of criminal enterprise in 1968 New Bordeaux," the game feature pertains to "pervasive and diverse mob rackets and hideouts that Lincoln Clay targets for takedown throughout the city."

Set in a reimagined New Orleans during 1968, Mafia III is an action-adventure game which follows the story of Lincoln Claya—disenfranchised Vietnam war veteran. Lincoln's new family gets slaughtered by the Italian mob, leading him to become obsessed with revenge as he wages a brutal war against his enemies.

New Bordeaux is a fictional rendition of New Orleans and as PlayStation Lifestyle points out, the developers describe it as a "vast, diverse and seedy open world ruled by the mob and corrupt officials and richly detailed with the sights, sounds and emotionally-charged social atmosphere of the era." By simply following the story, players can unlock various districts in the game. As previously announced by Hangar 13, the city will be fully available from the start of the game for users who want to explore by driving around.

Part of the attention the game is getting can be attributed to its storyline which tackles racism—a theme that is rarely explored in the gaming industry. "Our overriding philosophy is authenticity," Mafia III lead writer Bill Harms explained. "I think we'd be doing a disservice to everyone if we didn't touch that (racism). At the end of the day, this is a crime story, it's Mafia 3, it's about criminals doing criminal things. But (racism) is a big part of the world that he (game protagonist Lincoln Clay) walks through. He experiences that."

Mafia III officially hits the shelves on Oct. 7 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
