Mafia 3 news: Release date set for October, pre-order bonus and trailer revealed

The tale of revenge continues as one of the most-awaited video games this year, Mafia 3, is confirmed to be released on October. Set in New Orleans, the gameplay features a gritty storyline as it will depict a '60s gang war.
According to Polygon, 2K Games will release three editions: the base game and two special editions which give users access to additional downloadable content. Physical items plus the game's soundtrack on vinyl are included in the collector's edition. The game has yet to be rated, but the media outlet speculates that it will have an M rating.
A pre-order incentive called "Family Kick-Back" will be given to customers along with "exclusive" weapons and vehicles, CNET reports. Mafia 3 follows the adventures of Lincoln Clay, " a mixed-race man who grew up an orphan and later fought in the Vietnam War" before winding up in New Orleans. Developer Hangar 13 previously clarified that the game has no intention to sensationalize racism, which is linked to the game's depiction of prejudice against black people in the late 1960s. As for the price, the limited deluxe retails for $80 while the limited collector's edition goes for $150.
In an interview with Gamespot, studio director Haden Blackman hinted of several hours of gameplay which is also "highly replayable." "We're not talking about the exact hours yet, I'm a completionist too," Blackman said. "It is hours and hours and hours of content. I hope that people are encouraged to replay and see things that they didn't see before. Hopefully people go back and look for those little hidden gems. Additionally, the director teased about a character being executed which gamers should look forward to, as it will be done "in a pretty dramatic fashion."
2K Games' Mafia 3 will hit the shelves on October 7, and it will be available for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. The latest trailer for the game can be viewed here.
