'Mafia 3' DLC, release date news 2016: 3 expansion packs, post-launch freebies announced

A month before the highly-anticipated release of "Mafia 3," publisher 2K Games detailed the content that the game will get after its launch.
There are three story expansions planned for the game, all of which are included in the Season Pass for $29.99 and allow players to get to know more about Lincoln Clay and his experiences.
The first "Mafia 3" downloadable content (DLC) is called "Faster, Baby!" It is all about "fast cars, dramatic chases, and stunt driving."
Here, Lincoln is tasked to go after a corrupt Sheriff who threatens Civil Rights activists. He does so with the help of an unlikely ally – his old flame Roxy Laveau.
The second "Mafia 3" DLC is called "Signs of the Times," which takes Lincoln to the "drug-ridden counterculture of the inner city" to tackle a cult responsible for ritualistic killings that shook New Bordeaux.
Set in the "war-torn" jungles of Vietnam, "Stones Unturned" is the third DLC for "Mafia 3." This allows players to see deep into Lincoln's past when a rival returns with a score to settle. Lincoln will team up with CIA agent John Donovan to end the feud once and for all.
There will be a lot of free goodies coming to the game post-launch from races to character outfits to weapons with customization in between.
"Along with new story and character additions to New Bordeaux you'll find new activities to engage in to expand and diversify your criminal empire. And, yes, these paid expansions will also offer exclusive vehicles, weapons, outfits and races based upon their themes," 2K Games wrote.
Apart from these three major story expansions, "Mafia 3" players will also get tons of free stuff.
Responding to "one of the biggest requests" from fans, 2K Games is giving the players the ability to change the outfit of "Mafia 3" protagonist Lincoln and "define" their take on the character.
In addition to that, players are also getting free weapons 30 days after the game's release in form of the "Judge, Jury and Executioner" golden weapons pack.
There will also be vehicle customizations to get a load of, from personalized license plates to new wheels and paint jobs. There will also be free races where additional customizations can be accessed and with which fans can earn money from.
"Mafia 3" will be released Oct. 7 to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and personal computer (PC).
