'Madam Secretary' season 3 spoilers and plot rumors: Henry's opinion to greatly influence Elizabeth ultimate decision; Elizabeth to run as president instead?

"Madam Secretary" returns for its third season later this year, and viewers might see Elizabeth "Bess" McCord (Téa Leoni) move up the career ladder after she was offered by President Dalton (Keith Carradine) to be his vice-presidential running mate.
Will the U.S. Secretary of State be the country's next vice president? It remains to be seen if Elizabeth will accept the offer, but given her exceptional skills in problem solving and critical thinking, she can contribute greatly to address national and international issues. Moreover, she has a lot of achievements under her belt making her more than qualified to run for a much higher post, including rescuing Americans trapped in a foreign country and even preventing an impending war.
As lucrative as Dalton's offer may be, Elizabeth has to discuss with her family first so she just told him that she'll think about it. The State Secretary stressed that she is satisfied and happy with her current post, but Dalton seems so sure that she will eventually say yes to him.
Rumor has it that the opinion of Elizabeth's husband Henry McCord (Tim Daly) will strongly influence her decision if she will choose to accept or turn down the offer. He might prevent his wife from running for VP because it will put their whole family under a microscope, but there is also a possibility of him allowing her if she really wants to have more power in the administration.
As noted by Zap2it, there is also a huge possibility that Elizabeth will climb higher up the ladder and even aspire to be the next U.S. president, going head to head with Dalton.
According to a recent Twitter post from Leoni, the series will begin filming in mid-July. Keep tuning in for all-new episodes of "Madam Secretary" season 3 which premieres in September, with a new timeslot of Sunday nights at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.
