While users are still reeling from Apple's decision to completely remove the headphone jack for iPhone 7, there are speculations that the tech giant will do the same with the upcoming MacBook Pro.

According to Mac Rumors, the latest rumor surrounding the possible removal of a headphone jack did not come from a patent or a leaked image. Instead, it came from a recent survey sent out to MacBook Pro owners over the past few weeks. The telling survey includes questions such as "Do you ever use the headphone port on your MacBook Pro with Retina display," and "How do you upload photos from your digital camera or phone to your MacBook Pro with Retina display?" It is also believed that removing the headphone jack is part of the company's efforts to improve sales for Apple's Airpods.

Based on the questions posed by the survey, it seems that Apple is looking to drastically change the design of its next MacBook Pro. However, as Alphr points out, there have been leaked images of the new MacBook Pro's chassis, which clearly includes a 3.5mm headphone jack. Should Apple decide to entirely remove the said feature, there is a possibility that the change will be seen in a future update rather than the upcoming device.

Other new features for the MacBook Pro include OLED touch strips, Type-C USB ports, Touch ID, and a fingerprint scanner. Rumor has it that the Cupertino-based company will ditch Intel's seventh-generation Kaby Lake processing chip, which is believed to be the reason behind the device's delayed release.

Recent reports claim that Apple will likely change course and instead turn to AMD for their powerful 64-bit A10 Fusion chipset. Although it is usually used on smartphones such as the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, there are speculations that it is powerful enough to be used in a state-of-the-art laptop like the 2016 MacBook Pro.

The upcoming MacBook Pro is expected to be released in Q4 of 2016.
