Apple has presented their new projects in the recently concluded Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2016, but some of the participants who were waiting for the announcement of the new MacBook Air model were surprised as the Cupertino-based tech giant focused on the latest iOS 10 instead. However, the rumors still remain that the 2016 MacBook Air will be released sometime this year. In fact, there are reports that the new Macbook laptop will be launched as early as August.

After the WWDC event, it is speculated that Apple will be holding another press conference that is expected to focus on MacBook Air 2016. To recall, there has been a time when Apple had a separate press event after the WWDC, like what it did in April last year. Mac Rumors reported that Apple may be planning to use the press conference to unveil the new Macbook Air, although the company has not yet disclosed any details about the rumored Macbook Air press release.

There are rumors that MacBook Air 2016 will be featuring an OLED touch panel on its keyboard upon its release. Also, the new MacBook is expected to have a Touch ID feature.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Apple may be following the pattern of the 12-inch MacBook Air version in 2015 that followed a thin design and better power efficiency for longer laptop performance. To further improve the system performance and battery life, Apple is reportedly considering a change in MacBook Air's core processor, from Intel Broadwell to latest generation Intel Skylake. With this, MacBook Air 2016 can be expected to feature a boost in computing capabilities and speed while optimizing the battery's capacity.

If the rumors are correct, the 2016 MacBook Air will be among the first devices where Samsung's extremely fast RAM technology will be used. Specifically, 10-nm DDR4 RAM modules for the upcoming MacBooks will go smoothly with the new generation Skylake processor to live up to Apple's promise of a better and more convenient laptop experience.
