MacBook Air 2016 news update: Will give way to Retina MacBook?
A lot of Apple laptop users have been speculating about the new generation model of MacBook Air. There were several reports regarding the MacBook Pro line and the rumored release of the newest MacBook Pro laptop this year, but there is limited information regarding the 2016 Macbook Air model.
While tech enthusiasts have been waiting for developments for Macbook Air, the latest rumors suggest that the public may no longer see Air laptops in the future. Instead, Apple is preparing for the new Retina Macbook which is said to replace Macbook Air.

The Retina MacBook is expected to be the latest addition to the growing family of thin and lightweight Mac notebooks. The new MacBook will be sporting a thinner design and it will also be lighter than the previous MacBook Air laptops.
Moreover, Apple Insider reported that Apple will be releasing a new 13-inch MacBook model. It will be sporting the new Retina technology with an upgraded screen display. Regarding the release date of the upcoming Retina MacBook, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the laptop will be released in the third quarter of this year. Kuo works for KGI securities and has been predicting the product releases of Apple for the past few years, and his often accurate predictions suggest that the rumored Retina MacBook release this 2016 may be correct.
Kuo also added in his prediction that the upcoming Retina MacBook will be a great sales boost for Apple after the company released the recent 12-inch MacBook Air that also featured Retina display technology. Furthermore, the Retina MacBook will seal the fate of the future MacBook Air laptops as he expects Apple to stop producing units for the MacBook Air series. Although Kuo claimed that Apple will opt to transform MacBook Air into an entry level laptop without the top-of-the-line features such as the high-resolution Retina display.
It is also reported that the MacBook Air will also lose the fast I/O system, as well as the Force Touch trackpad. This was also the case with the previous polycarbonate MacBook.
It has also been reported that the future MacBooks will boast Touch ID support and the latest OLED display touch bar above the keyboard for the 13-inch and 15-inch models.
