MacBook Air 2014 Retina Release Date: MacBook Air Retina Not Coming Out In 2014

Apple's Oct. 16th event has come and gone but still there is no word yet on the MacBook Air Retina. This has quietly frustrated many Apple fans as they try to find out for themselves the new features in the iMac Retina with 5k display.
Apple Insider quotes Ming-Chi Kuo, a KGI analyst, as stating that Apple does not have any plans to ship new MacBooks this year. Sources say the delayed shipments from Intel were behind the decision by Apple to stall the release of the new MacBook. This means that all new MacBook models, including the MacBook with Retina display, may only hit stores sometime during the first part of 2015.
However, the delayed release of the new versions of the MacBook has not impacted on the sales of the existing Mac lineup. According to Apple, Mac sales figures went up by 46 percent in the September quarter. Reportedly 5.5 million iMacs and MacBooks were sold during the quarter. This spike in sales is being attributed to the price cuts that were announced on major products including the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.
As for whether the MacBook Air will ever feature a Retina display, there is still no word on that for now. The MacBook Air remains the only product from the Apple stable that does not feature the Retina display.
Inquisitr notes that the MacBook Air is a very light laptop and that this feature has attracted many consumers. If the MacBook Air were to feature a Retina display it would not be as slim as it is now.
Inquisitr also compares it to the MacBook Pro, which features Retina display. The MacBook Pro weighs 3.46 pounds as it houses a top quality graphics processor and better battery. The MacBook Air only weighs 2.96 pounds and would not be able to contain the necessary hardware to power a Retina display.
