The second season of "Lucifer" will introduce Lucifer Morningstar's mother Charlotte, and her arrival spells bad news for everyone.

After managing to escape hell in the season 1 finale, Lucifer's (Tom Ellis) mother Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) reunites with her sons on Earth. Once she enters the picture, however, her presence will cause a deeper divide between brothers Lucifer and Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside).

In a recent sit-down interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ellis revealed how Charlotte will negatively affect Lucifer, who still has a deep-seated resentment towards his mother. "Well, there's a lot of stuff that they've shelved and haven't talked through," he explained. "He's obviously in fear of her because he's felt she's been a prisoner in hell. She watched as he was cast out of heaven and stood by and did nothing, so he's got this resentment towards her. But he's never given her the opportunity to answer why and I think that's something simmering away at the bottom of him."

Lucifer's sessions with Dr. Martin (Rachael Harris) will definitely change because of this, as they will discuss more his "mommy issues" this season. Despite always being choosy about what he shares to Dr. Martin, Ellis notes that there will be instances where she "hits a nerve and stuff comes out that's quite a discovery for both of them." Additionally, he hinted that there are "big stuff coming up" around episode 6 or 7 which will center on Dr. Martin.

As for Chloe Decker's (Lauren German) relationship with Lucifer, it will be explored more later in the season. Ellis points out that there is a possibility of Chloe finally believing the truth about Lucifer. Apart from the underlying sexual tension between the two characters, viewers will also see the other factors that affect their relationship with each other.

"We realize that these two characters care obviously deeply about each other, but they're reluctant to tell that to each other. But through the actions of other people, we see that maybe Lucifer and Chloe care about each other a lot more than they say," he added.

Keep tuning in to "Lucifer" season 2 which airs every Monday night at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
