'Lucifer' season 2 air date, spoilers news: New trailer shows Lucifer praying

FOX Network's fantasy police-procedural TV series "Lucifer" is taking a wild turn in the upcoming season. A recently released trailer revealed the fallen angel praying to God.
The new trailer revealed that Lucifer (Tom Ellis) was working with Chloe (Lauren German) on a case while he was attempting to pray. German revealed another promo clip for the upcoming season on Twitter that showed the duo working together as a team.
Lucifer was heard saying, "We'll punish those who deserve it."
According to the International Business Times, Lucifer and Chloe will be spending a lot of time together in the forthcoming season. There will also be a lot of flashbacks, revealing the backstories of the main characters.
TVLine reported that Chris Payne Gilbert will be guest starring in multiple episodes of season 2. He will portray a former beat cop, a good man who was a great father to Chloe. Gilbert will appear in flashbacks next season, as his character was killed in the line of duty. His death prompted Chloe to become a detective. Sources say the multiple glimpses of Chloe's memory mean that she will soon be looking into her father's death.
For the uninitiated, the show follows the life of the titular character Lucifer, the fallen angel who got bored with his life in hell and thus decided to retire in Los Angeles. He meets a homicide detective named Chloe, whom he believes is inherently good, unlike a lot of people in the world. It is when he meets this detective that he entertains the possibility of his soul being saved.
Towards the end of the first season, Lucifer strikes a bargain with his father. In exchange for Chloe's protection, he must work for his father. Lucifer's first task is to capture hell's escapee, his mother.
"Lucifer" season 2 will return to FOX on Monday, Sept. 19, at 9 p.m. EDT.
