'Love & Hip Hop Atlanta' season 5 news: Tammy, Betty's catfight,; D. Smith joins the cast

The fifth season of VH1's "Love & Hip Hop Atlanta" is only in its second episode, but it seems like controversies are beginning to surface in the show.
Tammy Rivera and Betty Idol's recent rift is currently making waves, as the two seem to be fighting about a quite sensitive issue. According to Enstarz, the two clashed when Betty openly expressed that she did not like Tammy's husband Waka Flocka when he mentioned some derogatory remarks towards the LGBT community. Betty and Tammy screamed at each other as they argued about their conflicting views. In Tammy's anger, she threw a glass at Betty which is one of the highlights of the episode.
"First of all, I didn't know who she was...The fact that touched on my husband's interview was none of her business," Tammy said. "I didn't have to explain the situation. I have nothing to hide and nor does my husband, but when she kept on beating at it and beating it... I tried to keep it professional and mature."
Meanwhile, musician D. Smith made her debut in the show. Apart from being in the music industry, she is also known for being a model. Tammy discovered her in a charity event and she wanted Smith to be a be a model for her fashion line. Furthermore, Smith revealed that she is a biological male who is in the process of physically transitioning to a female. According to a report by The Boombox, even though Tammy mentioned that she couldn't even tell that Smith was a trans woman, Smith is still hesitant in accepting her offer. Apparently, Smith is best friends with Tammy's nemesis Betty, and Waka Flocka's previous statements seem to be holding her back from saying yes to Tammy.
"Love & Hip Hop Atlanta" season 5 airs its third episode this April 18 on VH1.
