'Longmire' season 5 release date unconfirmed, spoilers news: Lou Diamond Phillips confirms season 5 will not be show's last

The fifth season of Netflix's crime drama "Longmire" is expected to premiere later this year, and rumor has it that it will also mark the end of the series. With the possibility of an ending up in the air, will Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) and Vic Moretti (Katee Sackhoff) finally have their own happily ever after?
A lot of reports circulating online claim that "Longmire" might be in its farewell season. This caused a lot of fans to be worried and concerned about the fate of the series. After airing its third season, A&E previously axed the show despite high ratings since it does not meet the network's target audience. Netflix later on picked up the series' fourth season to attract its older viewers, and now season 5 is close to being released.
After months of waiting, someone from the cast finally addressed the rumors and confirmed that season 5 will not be its last. Lou Diamond Phillips, who portrays Walt's longtime friend Henry Standing Bear, recently posted his response to the cancellation rumors via Twitter which reads: "For some reason, some people have the mistaken assumption that S5 is our last. Not so. #Longmire."
The show is loosely based on the Walt Longmire mystery novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson, and in the book, Walt and Vic end up together. However, some of the fans do not see any chemistry between the two TV characters. Reports say that there is always a possibility that the show will take a different turn from its source material, and the two might not end up together. If that idea will be on the table, Walt may settle down with Donna while Vic meets a new man in her life.
"Longmire" season 5 is expected to premiere this year, but Netflix has yet to announce a definitive release date for the series.
