'Longmire' season 5 release date, spoilers news: Lou Diamond Phillips hints Henry-Walt conflict; Vic and Walt to finally realize their love for each other?

After a year of hiatus, Netflix's hit drama "Longmire" is all set to return next month for its much-awaited fifth season. Details on the plot are still under wraps, but actor Lou Diamond Phillips recently confirmed that his character Henry will face a central conflict in the story.
Speaking with Access Hollywood Live, Phillips hinted that Henry's relationship with his best friend Walt (Robert Taylor) will be put to the test after what happened in the previous season. To recap, season 4 left off with Henry being sent to jail by Mathias (Zahn McClarmon). Instead of being put behind bars, the actor teased that Henry will cut a deal with Mathias to let him go to the tribal police instead.
"Henry will be continuing his dual role as Hector, the sort-of vigilante, justice-bringer for the reservation, which will put him at odds with Walt Longmire, his best friend," he added. The conflict between the two will be interesting since they both believe they are doing the right thing but through different methods. Rumor has it that the two best friends will also fight over Vic (Katee Sackhoff), with Walt reportedly preventing the couple to say their "I do's."
Meanwhile, lead actress Sackhoff posted a photo via Instagram which made a lot of fans very excited for the new season. In the black and white image, partners Vic and Walt are seen together while holding their guns. "So close yet seems so far away!" an excerpt from the caption reads. Sackhoff is clearly referring to the September premiere, but some fans speculate that it is a hint that the duo will finally realize their true feelings for each other. It remains to be seen if the show will deviate from Craig Johnson's novel wherein Walt ends up with Vic instead of settling down with Donna (Ally Walker).
The fifth season of "Longmire" will be released in its entirety on Friday, Sept. 23 on Netflix.
