Olympian Lolo Jones recently took to Twitter to voice her opposition to the newly-released "50 Shades of Grey" movie, saying "God didn't create sex for that purpose."

The movie, which follows the sadomasochistic love life of its two main characters, was released at the beginning of last weekend and has netted $81.7 so far at the box office. Jones, an outspoken evangelical Christian and virgin, took to Twitter this week to denounce the film.

"Funny how some people think there's nothing wrong with 50 shades of Grey. God didn't create sex for that purpose. Watch another movie," Jones wrote.

"Some ppl medicate pain by being more and more physical to where if they are ever alone they can't feel any peace," Jones added.

Jones has previously spoken out about her decision to remain a virgin until marriage, telling HBO's "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel" that staying a virgin is "harder than training for the Olympics."

"It's just something, a gift I want to give my husband," Jones said. "But please understand that this journey has been hard. There are virgins out there and I'm going to let them know, it's the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Harder than training for the Olympics, harder than graduating from college has been staying a virgin before marriage."

Another evangelical athlete, Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks, recently received criticism on Twitter for admitting that he saw the film this past weekend and thought it was a "great movie."

"Thanks for the early showing of #50ShadesOfGrey late last night.. #EmeraldCity Great movie," the NFL star wrote on Twitter.

Wilson then sought to defend himself after receiving criticism, adding on the social media platform: "Saw a movie filmed in the town I call home. Provocative/disturbing no doubt but that does not make me less Faithful. Have a blessed day!"
