CBS' dramedy "Limitless" is already officially reported to be canceled after just one season, but fans of the show are not letting go without a good fight.

In a tweet in September, executive producer Craig Sweeney confirmed the cancellation news saying, "Thanks for watching! We are canceled, no hope for return that I'm aware of."

Sweeney and recurring guest star of the show, Bradley Cooper, along with many fans, created an online petition for the show to be renewed for a second season. The petition now has 35,000 signatures, but it still needs 1,000 more to reach its targeted number of supporters.

Despite this, things are not looking good for the show and its fans as CBS' decision to cancel the show is final due to its low ratings. Sweeney also noted that neither Netflix nor Amazon is interested in pick up the show for another season. Others also theorized that the show cannot keep up with the competition as its timeslot is up against more established shows such as "NCIS."

Speculations also say that CBS might still be willing to renew the show as long as its producers agree to change the entire plot and do a complete overhaul. Obviously, this doesn't seem to sit well with the existing fans of the show.

"Limitless" garnered mixed reviews, but most are generally positive. Rotten Tomatoes gave the show a 59% rating, noting that the show "cannot overcome its credulity-straining premise and shaky, hole-riddled narrative." Meanwhile, the show got a 7.9 over 10 from iMDb and a 8.5 over 10 score from TV.com.

"Limitless" tells the story of Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), who acquired special cognitive powers because of a mysterious drug called NZT, which allowed him to work with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to solve complex cases. The TV series is also a sequel to a film of the same name.
