Fans waiting for Lil Wayne's new album "Tha Carter V" found themselves listening instead to a mixtape titled "Sorry 4 The Wait 2." While many were disappointed, they still welcomed the opportunity to hear new music from the rap artist.

The new mixtape was announced via Wayne's account on the microblogging site Twitter. The post directed fans to a website where they could download it or stream it online. The new release features a total of 17 tracks including the rumored "Sh!t" remix. Among the other artists featured are Nicki Minaj, 2 Chainz, Drake, iLoveMakonnen, Mack Maine and Christina Milian.

Milian, who is rumored to be Wayne's girlfriend, is featured on the remix of Beyonce's "Drunk in Love." Among the other remixes are versions of Dej Loaf's "Try Me" and Rae Stremmurds' "No Type."

Earlier this month it was reported that Wayne bashed his record label Cash Money in the track "Sh!t" where he rapped along with Mike Will Made It. The lyrics include the lines: "Did my time at Cash Money, time served and released/ But this agent ain't free, word, that's the word on these streets."

Rolling Stone said this was in reference to a Twitter rant that Wayne made in December comparing his contract with Cash Money to a prison sentence.

Over the past 10 years, Wayne has released all his records through Cash Money. Recently he accused the label and its CEO Bryan "Birdman" Williams of stalling the release of "Tha Carter V." Wayne released the previous mixtape "Sorry 4 the Wait" in July 2011 a month before "Tha Carter IV" was released. Many have speculated that his next album could follow the mixtape.

"Tha Carter V" was originally due for release in October 2013. This did not happen and the release was postponed a number of times since then. It was last rumored for release on Dec. 9, 2014. But again this did not happen. No new release date has yet been announced by Cash Money.
