Lifetime Announces Collaboration With Roma Downey, Mark Burnett For 'Women of the Bible'

The Lifetime television network announced this week that it will be collaborating with Roma Downey and Mark Burnett to produce a religious-themed special entitled "The Women of The Bible."
The network announced this week that Downey will narrate the series, which will discuss several different female characters from the Bible while also interviewing influential Christian women in today's evangelical community.
According to Deadline, the four biblical characters featured in the special will include Eve, Sara, Rehab, Mary Magdalene and Mother Mary. The real-life women being interviewed during the special include Kay Warren of Saddleback Church in California, Victoria Osteen of Lakewood Church in Texas, and Joyce of Joyce Meyer Ministries, and Eva Rodriguez of the Latino Evangelical Women's Association.
The special will also be produced by Downey's LightWorkers Media, which is affiliated with the United Artists Media Group owned by Burnett and Downey. The special will be two hours long.
The special is set to premiere ahead of another show, "The Red Tent", a biblical miniseries that mirrors the highly successful "The Bible" miniseries produced by Downey and Burnett. "The Red Tent" will premiere on Lifetime on December 7, and will follow the lives of four women in the Bible.
"There's no one better than Mark Burnett and Roma Downey to create this special, which is the perfect complement to Lifetime's miniseries event, 'The Red Tent,'" Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Lifetime, said today, as reported by Deadline.
According to Variety, this upcoming special is the latest in several religious-themed media projects taken on by Downey and Burnett since their highly successful "The Bible" miniseries aired last year. Downey will also be hosting a series on the TLC network that interviews people who claim to have witnessed miracles.
