LG G6 news, rumored specs and release date news: next flagship iteration may launch on Feb. 2017; flat display, metal body in the works

The first quarter of 2017 is increasingly approaching and in the smartphone-making arena it would only mean one thing — an avalanche of flagship entries are slated to arrive whether the users like it or not. And in the world of gadgetry, it is just the way it is: successor models are
One of the most-awaited to arrive next year is the South Korean firm LG's LG G6 whose presence in the rumor outlets have begun surfacing weeks after LG G5 was launched. Understandably, leaks about the forthcoming smartphones have frequented these mills as the global sales of the flagship iteration have gone lower than what the company had expected. Unwittingly or not, the ploy couldn't be more apparent.
Before LG G6 arrives in the earlier months of 2017, here is a quick rundown as to which specifications may grace the next-generation flagship. Flat displays may still come with the forthcoming device as opposed to the recent fad that is the curved display as the company has some concerns over supply.
LG is currently sourcing its display panels directly from LG Display, its own subsidiary. Accordingly, the subsidiary won't be able to guarantee that an adequate supply of curved displays will be provided for LG G6.
LG G6 may also come with a "tempered glass finish" metal body aesthetics. Meanwhile, LG is still undecided yet whether it would still infuse the modular design it introduced on its predecessor. On the other hand, the upcoming device may very well debut without the much-debated-about design.
Along with LG G6's modular design, LG may also be doing away with its "Friends" modules. Furthermore, some Korean news outlets have revealed that the unit may come with an iris scanner, courtesy of LG Innotek. An all-in-one system for both the camera and the scanner are also in the works, a rather innovative step as opposed to separating the sensors, akin to that of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
LG G6 may also get equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 with 4 to 5GB of random-access memory (RAM). It is expected to run Android 7.0 Nougat when it launches.
LG G6 is slated to arrive on Feb. 2017 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain.
