'Legends of Tomorrow' spoilers, plot news: EP shares details on season 1 finale, different perspective for season 2
DC's "Legends of Tomorrow" is now close to concluding its freshman run, and its promising ratings paved the way for another season.
This week's episode featured Rip (Arthur Darvill)as he took the team to London in 2166, three months before the murder of his family. He saw it as the last chance to take Savage (Casper Crump) down, who apparently is very powerful that time. The team figures out two ways to defeat him, one would be Savage's daughter (guest star Jessica Sipos) and the means to put an end to Savage "once and for all."
Meanwhile, executive producer Phil Klemmer caught up with Collider to share interesting details on the upcoming season 1 finale. He mentioned that the finale is a "remix" of some sorts, as it bounces around previous episodes.
"We always wanted to make sure that this was a chapter, and that Season 2 would be a completely different chapter with new characters and new stakes," the showrunner explained. "I think our characters have been irrevocably changed by their experience. By the time you get to the finale, it does have that bittersweet reminder that they can't go home again. It's not just that their homes are gone, but they're different people. By stepping out of the timeline and going on this adventure, and allowing themselves to be changed by this common experience, they're like Vietnam veterans. It's not easy to go back to the world. So, the question of Season 2 is going to be, if they don't belong there, where do they belong?"
As for the next season, the showrunner teased that they will use a different perspective in the premise. Without giving too much details, Klemmer said via IGN: "We're coming at it from a completely different angle. We're determined to make every part of Season 2 feel like its own show. Episode 201 will very much be a new pilot with new good guys, new bad guys, new stakes, new dynamics, new goals. The team will basically have to find a new purpose."
"Legends of Tomorrow" airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
