'Legends of Tomorrow' season 2 spoilers: Legends fight against zombie soldiers in episode 4, will Sara do well as the new leader?

The heroes must fight for survival in the upcoming episode of The CW's "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2.

Titled "Abominations," this week's episode will see the Legends in a situation that forces them to fight for their lives. According to the official synopsis for episode 4, the Legends discover a time Aberration in 1863. After going back in time, they find themselves in the Civil War and fighting for survival against Confederate soldiers who have been turned into zombies.

With the outcome of the Civil War hanging in the balance, Jax (Franz Drameh) is compelled to take part in a daring mission by going to a slave plantation with Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers). Sara (Caity Lotz)is starting to feel the pressure and burden as the team's leader, while Ray (Brandon Routh) is finding it difficult to realize his purpose on the team.

Although Sara is beginning to doubt her capabilities as the new leader of the group, executive producer Marc Guggenheim promised that she will do well once she adjusts to her role. "As you start to see her become more and more comfortable in being the leader of this rag-tag group, it's so much fun to watch her," the EP told Entertainment Weekly's Spoiler Room. "The character's embodying the role of a leader, Caity's performance really embraces it. It turns out to be one of the most successful things we've done in season 2."

The search for Rip Hunter continues to be in the background, but Guggenheim added that the next mission under Sara's command will not focus on that. Although Rip's whereabouts remain unclear, the EP assures fans that they'll be the first ones to know. "To a certain extent, we don't want to change the mission statement from fixing aberrations to going and saving Rip," he added. "The bat has been taken out of their hands because there's no way to find Rip, so what would they do? You will find out [what happened to Rip] before the Legends do."
