'Legends of Tomorrow' season 2 spoilers: Heroes to be under new leadership; more details on Legion of Doom revealed

A new team of superheroes will be taking charge in the upcoming sophomore season of The CW's "Legends of Tomorrow."
Hawman and Hawkgirl may be long-gone, but they will be replaced by new heroes Amaya Jiwe and Heywood. Fans should also expect an entirely different new team of superheroes called the Justice Society of America (JSA), which includes Stargirl, Hourman and more characters from the 1940s DC world. As TV Guide points out, it's a good thing for the Legends to team up with the JSA since they will need all the help they can get once they face the Legion of Doom—a group of supervillains including the Legend's former member Captain Cold.
Titled "Out of Time," tonight's season 2 premiere picks up six months later as the Legends continue guarding the timeline. "Something happens in the premiere that changes the game for them, and we're going to end up with a shift in leadership away from Rip into the hands of someone new," executive producer Marc Guggenheim teased. "It'll be very organic, you will understand why it's happening, but I don't want to spoil it too much. I will say it's fun to see the team wrestling with the new dynamic."
To balance out all the new heroes, the series will be introducing a formidable team of villains who will fight against them. Aside from Captain Cold, the Legion of Doom will be made up of the bad guys from The CW's "Arrow" and "The Flash": Malcolm Merlyn, Damien Darhk and Reverse-Flash. Although each member has a different agenda, a key character will bring them all together.
"They're brought together by Eobard Thawne," Guggenheim added, "he's the one that brings them together, and we'll discover why Thawne, Speedster, the Reverse-Flash, a very impressive big bad in his own right, needs the help. That will come down the pike."
Also joining this season is the iconic DC antihero, Jonah Hex. After making a splash in the program's first season, the Western sharpshooter is set to return in episode six.
The second season of "Legends of Tomorrow" premieres on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
