The premise of DC's "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 seems exciting, as the team is set to tackle a new mission. However, will the upcoming season be heading into a new direction? Will viewers get to see familiar DC heroes appearing on the series?

Viewers remember season 1 as focusing on a vague mission, which mostly involved "protecting the timeline." In an interview with IGN, showrunner Phil Klemmer said they are taking a different approach this season, something entirely different from the first season's angle.

"Episode 201 will very much be a new pilot with new good guys, new bad guys, new stakes, new dynamics, new goals," he said.

What executive producer Mark Guggenheim confirmed is that the team would be facing a new villain that would make Vandal Savage seem "small in comparison."

Moreover, Wentworth Miller, who plays Leonard Snart, will be returning for season 2, this time as a series regular. Hence, even if season 1 ended with him sacrificing himself to destroy the Oculus, he would most likely be brought back to life in a manner only a sci-fi fantasy can give justice to.

There would be new characters, as Den of Geek reported, and both would be joining the Legends roster. The male addition would carry a "Han Solo" vibe to him while the female add-on would be an African-American soldier from the 1940s.

Klemmer likewise intimated that other well-known heroes from the DC Universe could be incorporated into "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2's storyline. In addition, several DC shows could be looking in on something more than crossovers.

According to Movie Pilot, reports are rife that the plots of each DC show's respective upcoming season, including "Legends of Tomorrow," would weave together building up to the giant DC TV show event that's purportedly happening in December.

DC's "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 is expected to be back on The CW this Fall.
