The final season of "The Legend of Korra" is upon us and two episodes from it have already aired. The premiere saw Shiro Shinobi informing the people of Republic City that Korra has been away for three years. This was in line with indications from season 3 that implied Korra's recovery from Zaheer's attack would take longer than expected.

A synopsis of season 4 sees Korra "begin a journey of self-discovery and survival in a new world where the strong prey upon the weak."

Also in a summary Zap2it notes, "An aggressive military force rises up led by the power hungry Kuvira, threatens the Earth Kingdom and only the Avatar can set things right."

As for the second episode in the season, titled "Korra Alone", it featured more scenes about how Korra found herself in the underground bending arena.

In the review of the second episode, DenofGeek notes that Korra has PTSD as a result of the trauma she suffered in the third season. That shows how the writers are choosing to deal with the issues Korra experiences in a realistic manner even though "The Legend of Korra" is a show for children.

The last part of the second episode saw Korra fighting her psyche or double in an area, after which she is led by a dog who is actually a spirit that offered her help, until she wakes up and finds that she is again with Toph Beifong.

DenofGeek states that the return of Beifong will keep viewers of the show happy, but it also notes that the writers of the show have matured the character of Korra and the writing for her has improved considerably, adding that many viewers enjoyed the second episode which focused entirely on Korra.

Improved writing has also meant that viewers have stopped thinking that other characters on the show are more interesting than her.
