Legend of Korra Finale Spoilers, Recap: Sees Korra Triumph Over Kuvira
During its time on Nickelodeon and since its relegation as an online series, "The Legend of Korra" has undergone a massive transformation. Formerly a show designed for children, it now examines adult issues.
In the finale, Korra triumphs over Kuvira by getting her to surrender. The finale consisted of two parts and was titled "Day of the Colossus" and "The Last Stand."
In "Day of the Colossus," Kuvira attacks Republic City, and President Raiko surrenders. Korra and her team then try to stop Kuvira using her fiancé Baatar Jr. But this fails to stop her and she uses the spirit cannon on the city, killing him.
"The Last Stand," the second part of the two-part finale, sees Korra and her compatriots working to attack the Colossus. Meelo and the Airbenders use paint-filled balloons on the Colossus to obscure Kuvira's vision. Then Bolin uses his Lavabending to unbalance it while Wei and Wing entangle its legs. But in spite of the team's best efforts they have to retreat.
Then Varrick and Zhu Li disable some of the mech suits, giving Korra's team additional time to mount their next attack. This goes ahead with the help of Asami's father, Hiroshi Sato, who creates a plan. The final attack on the Colossus is then launched. Hiroshi uses plasma saws to slice it apart but he dies in the process. However, he manages to eject Asami's from the Hummingbird jet before it is destroyed.
This leads to the three concurrent action sequences within the Colossus, as Su and Lin take on the death ray in its arm, while Mako and Bolin try to deactivate the Spirit Root that powers it. Korra, meanwhile, has a long awaited showdown with Kuvira.
As the Colossus is destroyed, Kuvira, thinking that she has already lost, flees into the spirit world with Korra in pursuit. In the spirit world, Kuvira turns the death ray on Korra but instead it tries to kill her, and Korra ends up protecting her, after which Kuvira surrenders.
The last part sees Varrick and Zhu Li getting married and Asami and Korra going into the spirit world for a vacation.
