'Law & Order: SVU season 18 spoilers, casting news: Barba deals with tough trial in episode 3; Rapper Wyclef Jean lands guest starring role

Barba (Raul Esparza) will struggle proving his version of the truth in court in the upcoming episode of NBC's top-rating procedural drama "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU)" season 18.

Titled "Imposter," next week's episode will tackle issues of rape and using fake identities. According to the official synopsis,  a man (guest star Wallace Langham) tears a family apart after he uses a prominent person's identity to lure a vulnerable wife and mother into his bed. During the trial in court, Barba argues that the evidence points to rape. However, he will struggle convincing the jury because of a powerful defense attorney (guest star CallieThorne) and a skeptical judge (guest star Vincent Curatola).

Meanwhile, rapper Wyclef Jean recently landed  guest starring role in the cop drama for this season. According to reports, the three-time Grammy winner will portray the role of a famed music producer who's hottest client gets involved in an assault case. Titled "Bad Rap," the episode will air later this fall.

Jean, who rose to popularity as one-third of the hip-hop trio The Fugees, is known for the songs "Gone Till November," "We Are Trying to Stay Alive" as well as his own version of Bob Marley's single "No Woman, No Cry." His previous acting credits include appearances in TV movie "Carmen: A Hip Hopera," and scripted TV programs including "Nashville," "Third Watch," and "American Dreams." He also did cameos in the 2005 film "Be Cool" and hit comedy series "30 Rock."

The rapper and music producer joins the lineup of other season 18 guest stars including Anthony Edwards from "ER." "E.T." star Henry Thomas and U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. The latter two already appeared on Wednesday night's episode titled "Making a Rapist."

The 18th season of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" airs every Wednesday night at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
