The team's new case about a sexually assaulted athlete will be compromised by the victim's secret double life in the upcoming episode of NBC's long-running procedural drama "Law & Order: SVU" season 18.

Titled "Heightened Emotions," next week's episode will center on a young female athlete who became a victim of sexual assault. According to the official synopsis, the team's investigation will reveal that the victim has a secret double life, and it could jeopardize both the case against the perpetrator and her dream to compete in the Olympics. Meanwhile, Rollins (Kelli Giddish) tries to reconnect with her sister Kim (guest star Lindsay Pulsipher) after she was released from prison on parole. Guest stars for this episode include Brit Morgan (Jenna Miller), David Alpay (Chad Miller), Hari Dhillon (Atty. Sunil Varma), and Theo Stockman (Michael Wheeler).

The promo clip from NBC doesn't feature Kim Rollins, but it shows bits of details on the team's newest case. Although the teaser only spans 15 seconds, it does give viewers a further sense of the victim's secret. While pursuing her dream to become a successful athlete, she may have been working as a prostitute to make ends meet. The huge consequences of this shocking reveal will certainly reverberate through the whole episode.

Last Wednesday's episode featured Barba charging a man with rape, which led to the detective facing an uphill battle in court. The judge was not on Barba's side and the suspect's lawyer even made a mockery of the case—stating that the accusation on her client is ridiculous. It was later revealed that the suspect was telling the truth and certainly did not rape the victim. The final moments of the episode showed the victim's son dead after committing suicide.

The 18th season of "Law & Order: SVU" airs every Wednesday night at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
