'Law and Order: SVU' season 18 spoilers: Donald Trump-inspired episode delayed again, might not air this year

The "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" season 18 episode inspired by United States president-elect Donald Trump was postponed at a later date for the third time.
The episode, titled "Unstoppable," features Emmy award-nominated actor Gary Cole as a politician running for president whose campaign was marred by allegations of sexual assault from several women.
This controversial episode of "Law and Order: SVU" season 18 was supposed to be the second installment to air for the season, but was delayed multiple times by NBC.
It was first set for an Oct. 12 air date then was pushed back to Oct. 26, but the network ultimately decided to air it a week after the election, which put it in its Nov. 16 schedule until NBC made this latest change.
The postponements began when accusations of sexual harassment and assault against Trump surfaced, more so when a leaked audio recording from Access Hollywood, where Trump made degrading remarks about women, made the rounds online.
Now, the "Law and Order: SVU" season 18 episode has been pushed further, but there is no exact date for it yet. Variety says that it might not air until next year.
Reports have it that might end up on an early January schedule, but Jezebel suggests that it is possible for the installment to be deferred again especially with that date so close to the inauguration.
"Law and Order: SVU" is known for featuring stories ripped from headlines as such was the case in the previous episode, "Broken Rhymes," which saw Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and the team investigate a hate crime against a transgender woman.
However, the Trump-inspired episode reportedly raised some eyebrows from the folks over at NBC, which also played a part in the initial delays.
There are no "Law and Order: SVU" season 18 episodes scheduled for this month and the next. The timeslot supposed to be for "Unstoppable" was given to "Chicago P.D."
