"Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU)" returns this coming Wednesday with an all-new episode, and it will also mark the start of the two-part finale.

To provide a short recap, this week's episode featured the team as they got a chance to be in the limelight as they probed on a case involving a reality show. A female contestant claimed that she was raped while filming the "Bachelor"-inspired dating show, and the SVU went undercover to investigate if her claim was true. As expected, the case was very compelling, and it was the kind that could likely happen in the real world.

The 22nd episode which airs next week kicks off the two-part season 17 finale, and it will tackle yet another relevant theme: issues in the prison system. It is a widespread problem which most people are unaware of, and the show highlights it well in the upcoming episode.

As noted by CarterMatt, the events that take place in this episode will carry over to the story in the finale. The synopsis did not give away too much, but what remains clear is that Garrett will surely bring something different in terms of his acting skills. He will play a role that requires him to be "fairly terrifying,"  and "despicable" so viewers should look forward to how he executes that. In addition, this also seems to be a huge episode in the season for Barba.

To give more insight on what to anticipate next week, the summary for "Intersecting Lives" reads:

"A corrections officer (Brad Garrett) is arrested for sexually assaulting female inmates in and out of prison, and the union that supports him targets Barba (Raúl Esparza) and the SVU."

Stay tuned for the last two episodes of "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU)" which airs this coming Wednesday, May 18 at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
