La. Pastor Commits Suicide After Ashley Madison Reveal

The family of a Louisiana pastor whose name was revealed in the recent Ashley Madison website data breach has announced that the pastor has committed suicide.

John Gibson, a pastor and teacher at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, reportedly committed suicide after his name was released in the hack of the Ashley Madison extramarital affairs website.

Gibson's wife, Christi, told CNN that she found her husband's body on August 24.

"It was a moment that life doesn't prepare you for," she told CNNMoney in a recent interview. "I had to call my kids. How do you tell your kids that their dad is gone and that he took his own life?"

"He talked about depression. He talked about having his name on there, and he said he was just very, very sorry," Christi added of the pastor's suicide note. "What we know about him is that he poured his life into other people, and he offered grace and mercy and forgiveness to everyone else, but somehow he couldn't extend that to himself."

Multiple suicides have been reported as being directly connected to the Ashley Madison data breach that occurred last month.

Another religious icon, Josh Duggar of the reality television family the Duggars, was also revealed to hold two accounts on the website.

Since the reveal, Duggar has checked himself into a Christian rehabilitation center and admitted to an addiction to pornography. His wife, Anna, and four children remain in Arkansas where they have been photographed spending time with Josh's parents, Michelle and Jim Bob.
