Kodak Smartphones Coming 2015: Company To Launch First Line Soon

Kodak has always been associated with cameras, so it is quite a surprise to find out that the company will be launching its own line of smartphones in 2015.

In a recent press release, Kodak said in producing the phones, it will focus on design, user experience and Internet sharing. The company said the phones will feature an advanced remote management that will allow users to seek help and support from friends and family members. This feature is very much similar to Amazon's "Mayday" service for their Fire Phone.

Kodak's first smartphones will reportedly target average phone users rather than high-end smartphone enthusiasts.

While people may have thought that Kodak's moments are long gone, the company said it will soon farm out many of the smartphones in development by a company called "Bullitt." As Bullitt put it, the smartphones to be launched will be designed and manufactured "using the unadulterated DNA of the brands" they work with.

In a press release, Bullitt Mobile CEO Oliver Schulte said "Kodak is one of the world's most recognizable brands. It is trusted by consumers as a marque of quality and innovation. We've taken that heritage and used it to inspire a range of beautifully designed devices that will let users take great pictures and edit, share, store and print them in an instant."

Details are still scarce, and there was no mention about lens apertures, sensor sizes and imaging hardware for Kodak's smartphones.
