Kirk Cameron's new movie "Saving Christmas" will be opening in 100 new theaters this weekend, despite its recently-low rating on the movie review site IMDb.

As The Christian Post reports, Cameron's new film was originally slated to be released in 400 theaters, but popular demand for the holiday film has allowed the movie to extend into its fourth running week and air in an additional 100 cinemas across the U.S.

News of the film's popularity comes after the movie reached a low rating on the site Rotten Tomatoes. Last month, Cameron took to Facebook to encourage supporters of his movie to give the film a high rating on the site, but some who opposed the movie took advantage of Cameron's suggestion and intentionally tried to lower the film's rating on websites like Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb.

Currently, the "Saving Christmas" movie sits on IMDb's "Bottom 100" list along with other low-rated films, such as "Gigli" and "From Justin to Kelly."

Cameron has maintained a positive attitude regarding his film, thanking viewers for their support in a recent Facebook post on December 3.

"I am so excited that nearly 100 new theaters will be getting Saving Christmas beginning Friday! And thanks to your incredible support, nearly 200 of the original theaters will still have Saving Christmas showing for a fourth week!" Cameron wrote.

The evangelical actor also sought to dismiss the "haters and atheists" who intentionally tried to lower his movie's score on Rotten Tomatoes.

"They are attempting, once again, to ruin Saving Christmas for everyone. Look at their language, vulgarity, and spirit of hate," Cameron previously wrote on Facebook.
