'Kingdom Hearts 3' release date rumors: Background story teased; Playing 'Kingdom Hearts 2.8' first is a must

The fans of the highly successful "Kingdom Hearts" game franchise were expecting to get fresh scoops about the anticipated eighth installment of the video game series at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 last week. Unfortunately, there was no "Kingdom Hearts 3" presented by Square Enix during the said event. However, in spite of being a no-show at E3, the game is still a go as more details regarding the upcoming game have been spilled.
"Kingdom Hearts" co-director Tai Yasue has shared the information that all fans must know as of the meantime. While "Kingdom Hearts 3" is not quite on the horizon just yet, the soon-to-be-released prologue will have an important role in the premise of the video game.
The game prequel called "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" is expected to set up the stage for "Kingdom Hearts 3," and many of the highlights of the prelude will have a big contribution to the premise of "KH3." Game Spot reported Yasue saying that playing "Kingdom Hearts 2.8" is important in order to understand the new world to be introduced in "Kingdom Hearts 3." It is actually important to play "Kingdom Heart 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" first before moving forward to the series.
"0.2, with you playing with Aqua, who is trapped inside the Dark World, that connects to Birth by Sleep. You experience her sorrow and torment. And she's a Keyblade Master, and her destiny is really intertwined with Sora's in Kingdom Hearts 3, so learning about her adventure, and her pain, really gives meaning to when you start Kingdom Hearts 3," said Yasue.
Meanwhile, Yasue also revealed from an earlier report that "Kingdom Hearts 3" might be featuring contents from the recent Marvel and Star Wars films, which are all under the management of Disney. However, this step would require the company to follow long procedures to obtain the rights to feature Disney-owned franchises in "Kingdom Hearts 3."
Some of the possible featured contents from Disney in "Kingdom Hearts 3" are Mt. Olympus from the animated feature film "Hercules," the Kingdom of Corono from "Tangled," and San Frantokyo from "Big Hero 6." Several fans have been also requesting to include contents from the recent Disney films such as "Zootopia" and Frozen."
