The Xbox One fighting game "Killer Instinct" had been hinting for a month that Cinder will be added as a fighter.

Earlier this week, a trailer was released for the character. Moreover, another new "final" character named Aria will reportedly be featured in the current second season of the game.

Cinder's arrival was heralded a few weeks ago when the game's developer Iron Galaxy placed a short reveal for the character at the end of the Hisano trailer. This was followed by several concept art images in a blog post, revealing the process by which Cinder was created by Iron Galaxy.

Fans of the original version of the game that was released in the 90s welcomed the re-emergence of Cinder. However, he will look different in the "Killer Instinct" game. In his new avatar his body has patches that have been burnt black interspersed with areas that are perpetually burning. It would be recalled that the original character was fully aflame. Despite this change in appearance, his back story is the same: He is the result of a chemical warfare experiment on Ben Ferris that went wrong.

As for the trailer revealing Cinder, it showcased some of his moves which include the ability to propel burning blobs of material onto his opponents which then detonate. It was also hinted that he did not like TJ Combo. Cinder is very happy with his new avatar, saying he's now "faster and burn-ier."

Those who own the Season 2 Ultra Edition of "Killer Instinct" will be able to get their paws on Cinder on Thursday, April 30. The monthly release of fresh characters in the fighting game is in line with the format that Microsoft has been using over the past two years. Others will get Cinder via the Season 2 Combo Breaker expansion which lands on May 6.

Coming to Aria, it appears that the playable fighter is connected to the Ultratech group. Only her voice was heard at the end of the trailer.
