Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole new album 2016 release date: May not arrive this July; Rappers still busy with solo projects?

There have been hopes in the past few weeks regarding the much-anticipated collaboration of today's top rap artists, Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. Unfortunately, as far as the latest developments go, the supposed release of their collaboration album may not happen anytime soon. At least, the album may not be released this July.

As reported by The Bitbag, there are speculations that Lamar and J. Cole have already been working on the supposed joint project, and the new music playlist can be expected as early as June. However, the month of June is almost over and there are no news heard about the two's collaboration album being released soon. There is still a chance that the album will be released in July instead, although there are signs that it will not push through. One of these signs is the current commitments of the rappers to other projects.

The website of J. Cole's fans recently shared a video showing the rapper hanging out with Dreamville producer Ron Gilmore in a recording studio. It appears that J. Cole is currently working on a latest tracklist, although it does not seem that Kendrick Lamar is involved with it. Thus, there is one more reason to think that the collaboration album of the two is not happening yet. Also, the renowned music producer Cardo had also revealed that he had sent some files to J Cole for a new project.

"I connected with Cole when I was working with my guy Matt. He was like, 'Yo, J. Cole needs some beats.' He ended up taking like two or three beats," Cardo said. This supports the idea that J. Cole is still going on his own with a new album.

However, in an interview with Complex, Cardo said that the collaboration album between Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole may still happen. He also praised the latter for his artistry and pleasant working behavior. Cardo said Cole is such a great artist to work with due to his positive attitude. He shared his working experience with the rapper from the first time he met him until they finally got close and had their good moments together.

As for Kendrick Lamar, he still has a lawsuit to deal with as The Mattie Music Group filed a case against the rapper for copying some parts of Bill Wither's 1975 single "Don't You Want to Stay," and he used them for his recent hit "I Do This," according to Vine Report. Also, there are rumors that he is doing another project with Drake as of the moment.
