Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole new album 2016 release date: Individual projects cause delay, J. Cole busy with concert tour while Kendrick Lamar works new track
Fans have been waiting for quite a long time to know when Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole's collaboration album will roll out, but it seems like the much-awaited project will be delayed further.

Reports say that the album is far from being cancelled, but fans will surely have to wait for it as they two rap icons are busy with their own individual projects. Lamar recently collaborated with fellow rap artist Mistah F.A.B. for his forthcoming album titled "Son of Pimp," which is scheduled to hit the shelves this coming May 27. Meanwhile, Cole is currently working on his upcoming concert to be held at the Ticketpro Dome in South Africa. The one-night event is titled "Castle Lite Unlocks J. Cole" and it will be on June 18.
Cole and Lamar have been teasing the joint project for years now, starting way back 2011. Photos of the two working in a studio surfaced online in 2012, fuelling rumors that they would finally release the album. Lamar even mentioned that it will be a surprise album, saying, "We gon drop that out the sky," he hinted. "I ain't gonna give no dates, no nothing. I'm just gonna let it fall." Three years ago, Jermaine confirmed that the collaboration album was in progress and that they have completed "too many songs," adding that they had "s--t holding in the stash."
This led fans to speculate that the album is close to hitting the shelves, but as it turned out, it was all rumors. "Yeah, definitely. I still would love to do it," Lamar said about working with Cole during the "To Pimp a Butterfly" promo run. "I talked to the bro, about a little bit over a month and he's on the tour rocking. So we're gonna try and make something happen. They want that."
