David Schwimmer, better known as Ross in the show "Friends," has been cast as Robert Kardashian in the upcoming anthology series "American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson" being created by FX.

Schwimmer gained popularity in "Friends" as the main love interest of Rachel (Jennifer Aniston). Since then he has appeared in a number of films and has even guest starred on several episodes of the series "Web Therapy" along with friends co-star Lisa Kudrow.

In the upcoming 10p-episode series "American Crime Story" he will play the part of Kardashian who was O.J. Simpson's friend. Kardashian later became part of Simpson's defense team when Simpson went on trial for the murder of his former wife, Nicole Simpson Brown.

Playing the role of Simpson will be Oscar award winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr., while Sarah Paulson, who currently stars as the twins Bette and Dot Tattler on "American Horror Story: Freak Show," will step into the role of prosecutor Marcia Clark. The series will focus on the aftermath of the murder of Simpson's wife and her friend Ronald Lyle Goldman. It will include the proceedings of his trial and his subsequently acquittal.

"American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson" is created by Ryan Murphy who is also the brains behind the hit anthological series "American Horror Story," which is currently the most watched show on FX. Earlier in October of this year, it was announced that "American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson" was being pushed into production immediately with a full 10-episode order.

The series' plot will be fashioned on the book written by Jeffrey Toobin's titled "The Run of His Life: The People V. O.J. Simpson" which focuses on the trial of Simpson for his wife's murder. The show will approach the trial from the lawyer's viewpoint and will focus on the legal maneuverings that happened both in court and behind the scenes.
