Katy Perry Super Bowl 2015 News: Singer to 'Roar' on 'Dark Horse' for Super Bowl Halftime Show Performance
Katy Perry has been hired by the NFL to perform during the Super Bowl halftime show.
Rumors that she would be taking center stage during the prestigious show first started a month ago when the New York Post reported that she would be involved.

The NFL announced that Perry will perform on Feb. 1 in Super Bowl XLIX, which will take place in Glendale, Arizona.
A CNN report noted that Perry is famous for belting out energetic pop numbers which are great for dancing, but are also pretty safe for a wide audience. It also notes that the star has a number of hits she can choose to perform and these include "Birthday" and "Roar."
Since the Super Bowl halftime performance announcement, Perry has stated in a video that she "Has got some insane ideas and the halftime show is going to be crazy."
She also noted that one of her ideas involved covering the stadium in edible glitter. Finally she even promised that the show could involve thousands of kittens and even a Pegasus. Commenting on this, ABC News notes that the show could just see visuals of animals and impressive set pieces but "a thousand kittens" would not be involved.
There is no doubt that Perry, who is a veteran of massive shows with elaborate costumes and set pieces, will pull out all the stops when it comes to the Super Bowl show. However, CNN notes that she has to deliver a show that equals or exceeds the superb performance delivered by Bruno Mars in February of this year.
In that show, Bruno Mars proved beyond all doubt that he was more than a mere pop sensation and that he has what it takes to be a show stopper like Sam Cooke and Jackie Wilson. Mars' show was a true work of art, featuring killer dance moves, fireworks and flashing lights which several websites and newspapers described as "one of the most energetic" Super Bowl performances till date.
