Jill Duggar Announces Pregnancy With Newlywed Husband
The TLC network announced Wednesday that Jill Duggar, of the network's "19 Kids and Counting" reality show, is expecting her first child with her newlywed husband Derrick Dillard.
The network said in a statement that it was "thrilled" to announce the pregnancy, which comes only two months after Duggar, 23, and husband Dillard, 25, tied the knot in front of 10,000 people.
Duggar also announced the news to People magazine, exclaiming: "We're having a baby!" and adding that she and Dillard "are so excited."
Dillard added that finding out about the pregnancy "was surreal," saying "We were shocked. Both of us are so excited."
Duggar reportedly met Dillard when her father, Jim Bob, organized a date between the two. The Duggar family, as evangelical Christians, practice strict courting rules that include no kissing until the wedding day. Rather, the potential couples can only give each other side hugs until they marry.
Duggar previously told MSN that she "[loves] Derick's desire to follow God and to serve others," adding "Derick is so romantic."
Along with Jill's recent wedding, another Duggar sibling, Jessa, recently announced that she has gotten engaged to boyfriend Ben Seewald after dating for eleven months. "We are so blessed to be engaged!" the couple announced via TLC last week. "God has written an amazing story through our courtship, and another chapter has just begun! We are thrilled to see what the future holds -- especially the wedding bells!"
Jessa added about her newlywed husband: "He is a mellow personality, very romantic and very sweet. I am very cut and dried. And my sisters are coaching me on sweet romantic things to say."
