'Jessica Jones' season 2 release date, rumors: Krysten Ritter's Netflix series to return in March 2018?

Fans of the well-received adaptation of Marvel's "Jessica Jones" by Netflix may have to wait a long while before the show's second season gets to see the light of day.

As reported by Mic back in October, Netflix has already made plans to premiere two Marvel shows per year. For 2016, the selected Marvel shows were "Luke Cage" and the second season of "Daredevil." For 2017, Netflix already announced the first seasons for "Iron Fist" and "The Defenders." Given the full roster for this year and the next, "Jessica Jones" season 2 won't be available until late 2018 at the earliest.

However, according to GameNGuide, "Jessica Jones," which stars Krysten Ritter in the titular role, may be returning much earlier than expected. The series may get a spring release date in March 2018, which means "Daredevil" season 3 will have to settle for a fall premiere by then.

There are plenty of things to look forward to in "Jessica Jones" season 2, which is probably why there are speculations that Netflix is also excited to revisit Ritter's character and develop her story.

After the events of season 1, Jessica is finally free from the clutches of Kilgrave (David Tennant). After Tennant's compelling performance as the show's villain, Netflix will have to figure out a convincing villainous character for season 2 and find a worthy actor to fill his shoes.

There are also speculations claiming that "Jessica Jones" season 2 will be introducing Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor) as Hellcat. Walker's character has always displayed her bravery in the show, and many fans are looking forward to how Trish will be developed further as a significant character in the series.

It is also speculated that "Alien" actress Sigourney Weaver will be appearing in the second season as one of the villains Jessica will have to go up against in the series.

Although Netflix has made no announcement about the air date of "Jessica Jones" season 2, fans may hold on to the possibility that it will be airing sometime in 2018, earlier than "Daredevil" season 3.
