Former reality show celebrities Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald recently announced the name of their newborn son, saying they named the child after a famous Baptist preacher.

The evangelical Christian couple took to YouTube to post a video explaining their newborn son's name of Spurgeon Elliot Seewald.

In the video, Jessa and Ben, who previously starred on TLC's "19 Kids and Counting," explain that they named their child after well-known British Bapist pastor Charles Spurgeon, who is considered by some followers to be the "Prince of Preachers."

"He had a big impact on our lives," Ben says in the YouTube video. "His writings and his sermons and books are still around today. They just continued to impact many, many people."

Ben goes on to explain in the clip that the middle name of the couple's son is also signfificant, as they named him after the late missionaries Jim and Elisabeth Elliot, who worked as evangelical missionaries in Ecuador.

"[Jim] died on the mission field," Ben explains in the YouTube clip. "His wife [...] she actually went back to the tribe after her husband's death. She continued to take the Gospel there."

Jessa and Ben welcomed their first child late last week. Although Jessa had a home birth, she was subsequently taken to the hospital after she produced "quite a bit of blood" following the delivery.

Jessa's mother, Michelle Duggar, can be heard on a 911 call explaining that her daughter needed to be "checked out" after producing too much blood following the birth.
