Jennifer Lawrence Speaks Out On Nude Photo Leak: 'It's A Sex Crime'

Actress Jennifer Lawrence has issued a response to the recent scandal involving the online release of personal nude photos, calling the incident a "sex crime."
Lawrence, 24, broke her silence on the scandal in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. The actress, who had several nude photos of herself released in September when someone hacked her iCloud account, told the fashion magazine that she waited so long to release a statement because she was so upset about the incident.
"It is not a scandal. It is a sex crime," Lawrence told Vanity Fair. "It's disgusting. The law needs to be changed, and we need to change. That's why these Web sites are responsible. Just the fact that somebody can be sexually exploited and violated, and the first thought that crosses somebody's mind is to make a profit from it. It's so beyond me. I just can't imagine being that detached from humanity. I can't imagine being that thoughtless and careless and so empty inside."
The actress also added that previously, whenever she tried to address the controversy, "every single thing that I tried to write made me cry or get angry."
"Anybody who looked at those pictures, you're perpetuating a sexual offense. You should cower with shame," she said. "Even people who I know and love say, 'Oh, yeah, I looked at the pictures.' I don't want to get mad, but at the same time I'm thinking, I didn't tell you that you could look at my naked body."
The actress added that she had difficulty telling her family, including her father, about the photos. The massive celebrity hack scandal including other victims besides Lawrence, such as Kaley Cuoco, Kate Upton and Aubrey Plaza.
