Jennifer Lawrence Song 'The Hanging Tree' Breaks Into Billboard Hot 100 Chart

Already a possible contender for an Oscar Award for Best Actress, Jennifer Lawrence is poised to become a singing sensation as well as "The Hanging Tree" song from the soundtrack of the film "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part I" is currently at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Jennifer herself might not consider this a major achievement as she has previously stated that she is scared of singing. She made this statement when she appeared on "The Late Show with David Letterman" last November. She confided that singing in front of other people was her biggest fear. She said when she was recently called to perform the "The Hanging Tree" song during a guest appearance in a talk show, she cried on the set.
Since the song "The Hanging Tree" debuted along with the rest of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part I" soundtrack, many reviewers liked her quiet voice as she sang a plaintive ballad that asks people to come to the "hanging tree."
"The Hanging Tree" song was the result of a collaborative effort between Suzanne Collins, who wrote the "Hunger Games" books, and musicians from the Lumineers, Jeremiah Fraites and Wesley Schultz. Newton Howard created the music for the film.
Fans of the film franchise have been praising her performance of the song which was propelled into the Billboard Hot 100 chart on the strength of its digital download sales.
Billboard notes that Lawrence could be the 13th Oscar winning actor to win a spot on the Hot 100 chart. If she succeeds in getting an Oscar, she would join the company of Julie Andrews, Jennifer Hudson, Cher, Jamie Foxx and Meryl Streep among others.
The entry of "Hanging Tree" into the Billboard Hot 100 chart also marks a high for the film franchise, which last saw the song "Eyes Open" performed by Taylor Swift rise to the 19th spot on the chart in 2012.
