Hollywood Actress Jennifer Lawrence recently suggested that she is "embarrassed" to be from Kentucky because that is where Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis is from.

Davis made headlines earlier this year for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples based on her Christian religious beliefs.

Lawrence, who stars in the new "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2" movie, told Vogue magazine in a recent interview that Davis makes her "embarrassed to be from Kentucky."

"Don't even say her name in this house," Lawrence continued. "All those people holding their crucifixes, which may as well be pitchforks, thinking they're fighting the good fight. I grew up in Kentucky. I know how they are."

Davis was jailed earlier this year after she refused to issue same-sex marriage licenses. The county clerk said at the time that "to affix my name or authoritative title on a certificate that authorizes marriage that conflicts with God's definition of marriage as a union between one man and one woman violates my deeply held religious convictions and conscience."

"For me, this would be an act of disobedience to my God," Davis added.

While Davis received criticism from some for her actions, others applauded her, including local Kentucky resident Randy Smith.

Smith told The Courier-Journal that the law ordering Davis to issue marriage licenses forces her to go against her convictions.

"It's not about fixing it. It's about forcing people to compromise their convictions," Smith said. "The proponents of gay marriage simply want to force people, especially Christians, to accept what they are doing."
