The CW's hit telenovela drama "Jane the Virgin" returns to the airwaves tonight, and the third season will finally reveal the fate of Jane's husband Michael (Brett Dier).

Season 2 left off with the titular heroine tying the knot with her true love Michael. However, before the newlyweds could even begin their honeymoon, the presumed-to-be-dead Sin Rostro (Bridget Regan) shot Michael while wearing the face of his partner, Susanna. Whether or not Michael survives has yet to be revealed, but TV Guide speculates that he will eventually recover from his injuries.

According to the media outlet, Dier is still on set and even joined the first table read for season 3. It was also confirmed by series creator/executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman in September that Jane will be losing her virginity during the first half of this season. Jane initially wanted to get married first before losing her v-card, and it was a decision Michael respected because he loved her. Jane sleeping with another man right after her husband's death is downright absurd, so Michael is speculated to live and recuperate.

Meanwhile, Jane's dynamic with Rafael will be centered on them being parents to Mateo. Speaking with TV Line, Urman teased how Rafael will be adopting a "surprising new attitude" for the third season.

'After seeing Jane walk down the aisle with someone and all the subsequent events, he's come to something new," she explained, "and that's going to continually complicate their parenting dynamic in good, interesting, challenging ways."

Moreover, the EP hinted important milestones for Jane fans should look forward to. "Over the course of the season, she's going to end up losing her virginity, she's going to end up moving out, she's going to end up doing all these big life steps—maybe not in the way that she expected to be taking them, but she's going to be taking them," she added.

The 3rd season of "Jane the Virgin" premieres on Monday, October 17 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
