'Jane the Virgin' season 3 episode 8 spoilers, news: Jane can't stop meddling with other peoples' relationships; series gets early renewal from The CW

Relationships get more complicated on the upcoming episode of The CW's "Jane the Virgin" season 3.

Titled "Chapter Fifty-Two," the show's midseason premiere will see Jane (Gina Rodriguez) sticking her nose in other people's affairs. According to the official synopsis, Jane struggles to stop meddling with other peoples' relationships â€” particularly Rafael's (Justin Baldoni) and Xo's (Andrea Navedo). On the other hand, Michael (Brett Dier) makes a major life decision, thanks to Jane's help, while Rafael receives disappointing news that makes him emotional.

In an effort to find the perfect partner, Rogelio (Jamie Camil) makes an unusual agreement with his matchmaker. Elsewhere, Petra (Yael Grobglas) resorts to extreme measures just to figure out if Rafael is working against her.

"Jane the Virgin" season 3 is only heading into its eighth episode, but the hit comedy-drama recently received an early series renewal from The CW. The series joins other fan-favorite programs that were also renewed, including "Supergirl," "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," "The Flash," "Supernatural," "DC's Legends of Tomorrow," and "Arrow."

Mark Pedowitz, president of The CW, announced the renewal over the weekend. He also released a statement explaining why the network decided to make early pickups of the top-rating programs.

"Over the past several seasons, The CW has built a schedule of proven performers, from our lineup of DC superheroes, to critically acclaimed comedies, to sci-fi dramas," Pedowitz said. "Early pickups of these seven series now allow our producers to plan ahead for next season, and gives us a solid base to build on for next season, with original scripted series to roll out all year long," he added.

"Jane the Virgin" season 3 is up by nearly 10 percent in ratings so far, earning an average of 0.40 rating in the 18â€“49 demographic with 1.05 million viewers. It is currently the sixth highest-rating series on the network, below the three superhero shows and "Supernatural."

The third season of "Jane the Virgin" returns on Monday, Jan. 23, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
