Jane (Gina Rodriguez) will no longer be a virgin when "Jane the Virgin" returns to the small screen for its third season next month.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, series creator Jennie Snyder Urman confirmed that the female lead will lose her virginity come season 3. "She does lose her virginity this year," she teased. "It's in the first half of the season, and it's quite a big episode for us."

Season 2 left off with Jane taking the plunge and marrying on-again, off-again fiancé Michael (Brett Dier) in a romantic ceremony with Bruno Mars as the wedding singer. Just when
Jane was finally prepared to have a passionate night with the person she loves, Michael gets shot in the chest. With Michael possibly still in recovery, there are speculations that Jane's millionaire baby daddy Rafael (Justin Baldoni) will swoop in and try to win her affection back. Michael and Rafael have been competing for Jane's heart since the series debuted back in 2014 but as of now, there's no telling who Jane loses her V-card to.

Regardless of whom Jane ends up sleeping with, Rodriguez hinted it will significantly impact her character and become a major theme next season. "How is [losing her virginity] going to play into her life, her psychology, how she views herself and how she views her intimacy?" Rodriguez told People magazine. "There's an evolution."

To make Jane's romantic life even more complicated, a character from Jane's past will make a surprising appearance in the show. "You'll meet someone from Jane's past, before she met Michael," Urman added. She also mentioned a lot of "tension and question marks" in the storyline as a possible new love interest for Jane joins the upcoming installment.

Tune in to new episodes of "Jane the Virgin" season 3 which premieres on Monday, Oct. 17 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
