'iZombie' season 3 spoilers, plot news: Ravi's medical breakthrough
Big things are coming to the world of the undead when "iZombie" returns for the second half of season 3. The CW TV series will give the undead a place to hang out with their fellow zombies. Ravi (Rahul Kohli) will also have a medical revelation next season — medicine to improve Liv's (Rose McIver) visions.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Rob Thomas teased, "Ravi will stumble upon a recipe to make zombie visions more vivid and longer lasting." On the other hand, Ravi will still be working on the cure for zombiism.
Moreover, the executive producer revealed that the show will now feature The Scratching Post, an underground pub where zombies can congregate and enjoy a decent meal without having to look over their shoulders. Thomas said, "It's a speakeasy where one needs to be able to eat a ghost pepper without flinching to be allowed in, but once inside, brains and hot sauces from around the world are available for the discriminating zombie."
The team intended to name establishment Coldcock's, but it was already a brand name for booze. Hence, they had to come up with a new one — The Scratching Post.
For the uninitiated, "iZombie" follows the life of medical resident Liv. Liv wasn't always a zombie but she became one when she attended a party that turned out to be a zombie buffet. Her naturally pale complexion allows her to blend in with the living. Once a zombie, Liv refused to be a slave to her species' urges. She refused to feed on fresh human brains. To deal with this, she got a job at a coroner's office so she could feed on dead people's brains.
Later on, the main character finds out that eating brains gives her the person's memories. Liv finds a new calling and thus pretends to be a psychic, helping people solve murders.
"iZombie" seson 3 will return mid-season to The CW in January 2017.
