Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to Congress this week regarding what he believes to be a "bad deal" between the U.S. and Iran that involves the Middle Eastern country halting its nuclear program.

Netanyahu made his statements in a joint meeting of Congress, saying that the U.S. agreement with Iran regarding its nuclear program "doesn't block Iran's path to the bomb; it paves Iran's path to the bomb."

The prime minister went on to describe Iran's "tentacles of terror" that were already proving to be a threat to Israel's peace and freedom, adding that the failure to closely monitor Iran's nuclear weapons production "could well threaten the survival of my country."

"We must all stand together to stop Iran's march of conquest, subjugation and terror," Netanyahu told U.S. lawmakers.

Iranian leaders immediately spoke out against Netanyahu's speech, with Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham saying: "This speech was a sign of the weakness and extreme isolation of radical groups," adding that it was "a deceitful theater play."

"[...] The continued lies of Netanyahu regarding the aims and intentions of the peaceful nuclear program of Iran are repetitive and sickening," she added.

President Obama said in a statement that Netanyahu's recent speech to Congress would not be "permanately destructive" to the U.S. relationship with Israel.

"It's important to realize the depth of the US-Israeli relationship under my administration: billions of dollars have gone to support Israel, including the Iron Dome. The military and intelligence cooperation is unprecedented, that's not our estimation that's from the Netanyahu government," the president said.
