'Iron Man 4' news: Robert Downey Jr. speaks out on a future for Iron Man

Following Iron Man's latest stint in "Captain America: Civil War," it seems like another solo flight is far from reach for the billionaire superhero.
USA Today recently caught up with actor Robert Downey Jr. to asked him if an Iron Man 4 is underway to which he admitted, "I don't think that's in the cards." The Iron Man actor went on to say, "In a way it's Cap 3, but for me it's like my little Iron Man 4 and then it's back to the thing we all recognize. Everything pulls over to the side of the road when the thunder of an Avengers thing comes through because that's how it is until it changes. If it changes."
Variety also wanted to now what's in store for the Iron Man franchise, to which Downey Jr. replied rather bluntly, "There isn't one in the pipe. No, there's no plan for a fourth Iron Man."
The actor has been playing the character of Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man since 2008, with the films total gross sales roughly around $2.5 billion.
Despite the unfortunate news, fans can still see Downey Jr. as Iron Man in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War. In the film, Captain America (Chris Evans) and his team of superheros will battle it out with Iron Man along with his own team. The latest "Captain America" film creates a division among the heroes, which makes the viewers wonder how they will sort everything out.
In the meantime, Marvel fans need not worry as the company is currently working on other superhero movie installments There's the Russos' Captain America 3 as well as Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Marvel fanatics will be hyped to know that they are also working on seven untitled projects intended for release between now and 2019. Doctor Strange, Thor 3, and The Avengers 3 are among the three confirmed additional titles from Marvel, as reported by Cinemablend.
